It was only last summer that I was introduced to the idea of hiking the Appalachian Trail, which came from our white water rafting guide on my birthday weekend. He had told Matt and I how he spent the summer with his dog, hiking from Georgia to Maine. Sleeping in shelters, spending time in solitude, meeting people, and loving life. I jokingly said to Matt, "if work gets much worse, I am going to hike the trail!" I didn't think about it again until several months later. Since that whimsical proclamation, a lot of things have changed in my life. I left my job in October of 2009, Matt and I are planning a wedding for October of this year. It seems to me that life if providing me window of opportunity! I plan to host a Sending off party on March 20th and I will be leaving the next day from Springer Mountain, GA. Here goes nothing...
